Konyaalti Beach Antalya: A Local's Honest Guide

If you're staying in Antalya's city centre, Konyaalti Beach is the sea you'll keep coming back to. It runs for roughly 7 kilometres along the western side of the city, with the Beydaglari mountains rising right behind it, and it's where locals actually swim, not just tourists. Here's a practical, no-fluff guide to make your first visit easy.

Pebbles, not sand

The first thing to know: Konyaalti is a pebble beach, not a sandy one. That's good news for the water, which stays remarkably clear and blue, but it means you'll want water shoes or flip-flops for walking in and out of the sea. Long stretches of the beach fly the Blue Flag, so water quality and safety standards are reliably good.

Behind the shore you'll find a wide promenade with a walking and cycling path, green areas and shaded spots, so the beach works just as well for an evening stroll as for a swim.

Free sections vs beach clubs

Konyaalti gives you a real choice. A large part of the shoreline is public and free: bring a towel, lay it on the pebbles and swim, with basic shared showers nearby. This is the budget-friendly, low-key option and it's genuinely nice.

If you'd rather have a lounger, umbrella, service and clean facilities, the beach clubs lining the shore have you covered, and some add pools, food and evening music. Prices vary by season and venue, so check the current sunbed and entry rates on the day rather than trusting old numbers online. As a rule, weekday mornings are quieter and easier on the wallet.

The Beach Park area

Toward the eastern end sits the Beach Park zone, the liveliest part of Konyaalti, packed with back-to-back beach clubs, cafes and restaurants. It's ideal if you want to swim all day and then eat and drink without moving far. The same area is home to family attractions such as the Antalya Aquarium, so it's easy to combine a beach day with something else. For a calmer, more natural feel, simply walk west along the shore, where the crowds thin out and the mountain views open up.

Getting there

One of Konyaalti's biggest advantages is how close it is to the centre and how easy it is to reach without a car. The tram gets you within a short walk of the beach, and plenty of city buses run this way too. If you drive, there are car parks along the shore, but they fill up on summer weekends, so arrive early. Given how strong the midday Antalya sun is, planning your transport in advance saves you a hot walk.

Best time and the sunset

Swimming season runs roughly June to September, with the warmest water in July and August. The most pleasant hours are early morning and late afternoon; midday is both the hottest and the most crowded. But Konyaalti's real magic is at dusk, when the sun drops behind the mountains and the whole bay turns orange. Even if you don't swim, time your visit to catch it, because it's one of Antalya's best free experiences.

Whether you want a full-service beach club or a quiet free stretch of your own, compare your options and find the right spot with FindAntalya's guide to Konyaalti beach clubs.
